Start with your teams’ working day

A workshop, shop, service business and mobile team have different habits. These are examples: TiraNote targets Belgian SMEs across sectors. The first question is where and how each person can clock in without an unnecessary detour.

Avoid choosing a device before agreeing the process. Identify who answers questions and who handles a missed departure.

Smartphone, kiosk or Excel: a useful comparison

No recording method replaces clear instructions. Compare these practical differences without assuming that any one approach automatically meets every requirement.

Three approaches to keeping track of hours
ApproachWhen it may fitWhat to check
SmartphoneMobile teams or people working across sites.Phone access, instructions, collected data and omissions.
Shared native kioskTeams using a common workplace.Accessible installation, user identity and a fallback process.
SpreadsheetSimple manual follow-up or preparing a summary.Entry, versions, change authors and retention of the original source.

The five criteria that really matter

Ask for a demonstration of an entire working day, not just an arrival screen. Follow the path from recording to review and reporting.

  • Understandable identification of the person, site and channel.
  • Clearly explained breaks that fit your policies.
  • A documented correction that preserves the original.
  • A clear view of unresolved exceptions.
  • Useful reports without having to buy a payroll package.

Make break handling an explicit choice

TiraNote’s planned launch scope includes clocked breaks and automatic deduction of a configured break. Keep the two approaches distinct to avoid deducting the same time twice.

A calculation example, not a universal rule: 08:30 to 17:00 spans 8 hours 30 minutes. If your policy requires a 30-minute non-working break to be deducted, the result is 8 hours. Your actual break treatment must be checked for your business.

Clocking rules are adapted by site. A new session retains the rules applicable when it opens: changing a setting should not be presented as automatically rewriting past working days.

What budget is TiraNote planning for a small team?

What TiraNote plans, and what comes later

TiraNote is preparing smartphone and native kiosk clocking, attendance follow-up, correction history and standard hours reports in every plan. Public launch is targeted for early December 2026; the service is not already open.

A shared native kiosk does not mean any external time clock is compatible. Device Connect is a future option for supported devices. Payroll Connect concerns future exports tailored to a payroll provider. Neither is required for the planned standard reports.

Before choosing, test a clock-in, a break, an omission and a correction. You will quickly see whether the tool reduces the work of following up hours.

Your getting-started checklist

  • Let a small team test the clocking action.
  • Check breaks and a complete correction.
  • Compare headcount limits, not only the starting price.
  • Separate launch features from future options.
  • Validate the obligations specific to your activity.

Frequently asked questions

Is TiraNote only for trades or hospitality?

No. Those sectors illustrate working situations. TiraNote targets Belgian SMEs across sectors, with any activity-specific requirements still needing to be checked.

Will every worker need to use their own phone?

The planned approach combines smartphones and a shared native kiosk. Consider access to equipment and each team’s organisation when choosing.

Will any external time clock work at launch?

Universal compatibility is not announced. Device Connect is a future option; supported devices still need to be specified.
