The end of the month should not become an investigation

A missing departure, an overlooked break, several file versions: the difficulty is often reconstructing what happened rather than adding up the hours. A shared method avoids passing that uncertainty to the person handling payroll.

The goal is not to send more data. It is to provide a clear set of records with unresolved items identified.

Five checks before using an hours report

Build a short review routine into every handover. It remains useful for both small and larger teams.

  • Define the period, workers and sites involved.
  • Find incomplete sessions and unresolved exceptions.
  • Check break handling and avoid double deductions.
  • Document corrections with author, date and reason.
  • Separate confirmed hours from items still needing clarification.

Example: making eight hours understandable

An 08:30 arrival and 17:00 departure span 8 hours 30 minutes. In this example, a 30-minute non-working break is deducted under the chosen policy, giving 8 hours. Your break method and whether time is paid or unpaid must be checked for your situation.

If a departure recorded at 16:15 is later corrected to 16:30, keep both pieces of information: the original and the correction, with its author, recording time and reason. Reviewing an exception is not, by itself, a correction of the recorded time.

Standard reports, Payroll Connect and salary calculation are different

Always ask what the file produces and what the recipient still needs to check. A readable report is not automatically a format accepted by every payroll provider.

Keep useful history without treating every type of data alike

TiraNote plans to retain original clocking facts and document corrections. The history should help explain a decision, not just display a number.

The announced product policy aims for at least five years of clocking and audit history. This does not set a single retention period for contact information, location evidence or every technical log. Retention and access policies must be defined before production use.

Standard reports should stay accessible to your SME

Standard hours reports are included in all planned tiers, including Free for one worker. Starter is planned for up to ten workers and Team for up to fifty; a custom quote is planned above that.

Payroll Connect therefore need not be a compulsory step to view or share your hours. Its future role is adaptation for a particular recipient. TiraNote is not yet publicly open, and these features describe the planned launch scope. A generic CSV export is also part of the planned scope for sharing data; use in another system depends on its required format.

Your getting-started checklist

  • A clearly defined period and group of workers.
  • Incomplete sessions identified.
  • A checked break policy.
  • Attributed and explained corrections.
  • A recipient who understands the report’s content and limits.

Frequently asked questions

Will reports be included in Free and Starter?

Yes. The planned launch scope includes standard hours reports in every tier. Limits include the number of covered workers.

Will Payroll Connect automatically send salaries?

That is not announced. The future module concerns provider-specific exports. No salary calculation, universal synchronisation or automatic payroll submission is promised.

Can I hand over a day with a missing departure?

Mark it as incomplete and have it clarified through your process. Do not turn a provisional duration into confirmed hours without checking.

Will Payroll Connect be required to export my hours?

Not for the standard reports and generic CSV planned for launch. The future option targets a specific provider’s format, with support still to be confirmed.
